CT Featured Location In Hallmark Musical Christmas Movie

HARTFORD, CT — It's that time of the year again! A Hallmark Channel Christmas movie shot in Woodstock, Putnam, and Hartford will premiere Oct. 31 at 8 p.m. The screenplay for the movie, "One Royal Holiday," was written by Avon resident Julie Wolfe, according to The Hartford Courant.

It was reportedly one of the first movies in the country to reboot production after the pandemic lockdown.

The movie was shot over the summer at Connecticut locations including the Inn at Woodstock Hill, Baker’s Dozen doughnut shop in Putnam, and the Connecticut Convention Center and Bond Ballroom in Hartford, according to The Hartford Courant.

"One Royal Holiday" is described as a magical, musical holiday production featuring Broadway stars Laura Osnes, who appeared in "In the Key of Love," and Aaron Tveit, who appeared in "Les Miserables." The movie takes place in the charming rural Connecticut town of Kentsbury, according to TV Showcase.

The story begins during a blizzard when Anna (Osnes) offers shelter to a stranded mother (Victoria Clark) and her son (Tveit). She later discovers that they are the Royal Family of Galwick and shows them how they do Christmas where she's from, according to ET Online.

"One Royal Holiday" is part of Hallmark's "Countdown to Christmas," one of 40 original movies to premiere on the channel from Oct. 23 to Dec. 20.

Hallmark Movie Filming In Wethersfield

Connecticut is a popular location for movies centered around Christmas, especially those appearing on the Hallmark Channel. "Holiday For Heroes," filmed in several Southeastern Connecticut towns, was released last year.

In 2018, "Christmas On Honeysuckle Lane" appeared on Hallmark and was shot in Wethersfield.
