East Hartford Man Sentenced In Drugs, Guns Case

Dionte Wilson will serve 33 months in federal prison, according to prosecutors.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — An East Hartford man has been sentenced to 33 months in prison for illegally possessing guns and ammunition, according to federal prosecutors. Dionte Wilson, 25, will also serve three years of supervised release.

According to prosecutors, investigators reviewed videos on social media websites that identified Wilson as being in possession of several different guns. Members of the FBI’s Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force also conducted multiple controlled purchases of marijuana from Wilson.

Wilson was arrested on state charges Aug. 10 after he displayed a Taurus .380 caliber handgun following a controlled marijuana purchase.

Police searched Wilson’s residence and found a loaded .380 caliber Taurus gun magazine and approximately 100 rounds of .22 caliber long rifle hollow point bullets. After he was released on bond in his state case, Wilson posted videos on social media of himself brandishing a firearm.

Wilson’s criminal history includes state convictions for drug and gun offenses.

Wilson has been detained since his federal arrest on Sept. 9. He pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon Jan. 19.
