2 Killed In Fiery Accident, I-84 Remains Reopened: UPDATE

The accident involved four vehicles including a school bus.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — Two people have died as a result of a fiery crash on Interstate 84 westbound between exits 55 and 56 that involved three tractor-trailers and a school bus, according to media reports including NBC CT.

It's believed the accident was caused when a tractor-trailer crashed into the school bus, which had no students onboard, igniting the tractor trailer. One truck was hauling paper and the other two were transporting food, according to NBC CT.

All four vehicles were destroyed in the crash. The names of the victims has not yet been released.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — A fatal accident involving three vehicles was reported early Monday on Interstate 84 westbound between exits 55 and 56, according to State Police. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.

On Monday at 5:08 a.m., Troopers from Troop H-Hartford responded to the accident. One of the vehicles involved in this incident is a fully engulfed Tractor Trailer unit.

Currently, this area of the highway is completely closed as well as the area of Route 2 Westbound to Interstate 84. Lanes are expected to remain closed for several hours. Alternate routes should be used if traveling in or area the area.

DOT is on scene to assist in lane closures. The State Police – C.A.R.S. unit is also en route to assist in the investigation.
