Flood Warnings Still In Effect In Greater Hartford Area

Water has risen well above flood level in some areas of the capital city and some neighboring communities.

HARTFORD, CT — A flood warning remains in effect in the Connecticut River area of Hartford and some surrounding communities, as water levels have risen well above flood level.

At 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, the stage was 19.6 feet, well above the standard flood level of 16 feet. Forecasters at AccuWeather predict a drop to 19.2 feet by Thursday morning.

Riverside Park, a popular recreation area adjacent to the river, is closed indefinitely due to flooding. Water levels were observed to the height of the crossbar on the football goal posts.

South of the city, flooding is expected along the river in portions of Wethersfield, Glastonbury, Rocky Hill and Cromwell. Windsor is also affected north of Hartford.

The flood warning is currently in effect until 11:46 a.m. Thursday, AccuWeather reports.
