CONNECTICUT — Connecticut's top officials including Gov. Ned Lamont have reached out to the Toronto Blue Jays to make their case on why the Major League Baseball team should play its "home games" at the Hartford Yard Goats stadium in Hartford.

If you haven't been following the Blue Jays quest to find a home park this summer it's quite the tale. It appeared Canada would allow the team to play its home games at the Rogers Center in Toronto but the federal government nixed that citing concerns about the recent rise in coronavirus cases in the United States.

Next, the baseball team secured a verbal agreement with the Pittsburgh Pirates to play its home games there but the state of Pennsylvania said no also citing health concerns. Up next the Blue Jays seemingly have a new verbal agreement to play its home games at Camden Yards in Baltimore but the state of Maryland has not yet approved such a scenario.

And in the midst of all of this comes word that Gov. Ned Lamont has contacted the Blue Jays organization about the opportunity to play at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford.

"We had a couple of conversations informally with the Toronto Blue Jays, and I think the Yard Goats stadium would be a pretty nice place to be in the near term," said Lamont, according to Fox 61.

The Blue Jays coming to play their games in Connecticut is a big long shot mainly because the players on the team are lobbying to play all of their games in a Major League Baseball stadium and not a minor league park. If the Blue Jays strike out in securing an agreement to play at Camden Yards in Maryland it's very possible they may play all of their games on the road in 2020.

We'll see.
