HARTFORD, CT — The Hartford Courant will shutter its Broad Street newsroom Dec. 27, according to The Middletown Press. A spokesman from the newspaper's owner, Tribune Publishing, said there was no clear path to return due to the pandemic and the company has been evaluating "its real estate needs."

The Courant will continue to operate, and the newspaper's publisher and chief said closing the office won't "change the essence of what we do," The Middletown Press reported.

The decision to close the Broad Street office comes after The Courant announced the closure of its printing press in October, cutting 151 jobs and outsourcing the work to Massachusetts.
