Hartford Woman Charged With DUI In Wrong-Way Wreck: Police

A woman is facing accusations that she drove the wrong way on I-91 and struck another car.

HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford woman has been arrested in connection with a wrong-way crash, according to police. Jessica Cruz, 42, was charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol, operation without minimum insurance, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Police said they received numerous 911 calls reporting a wrong-way driver traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-91 in area of exit 34 near the Windsor/Hartford city line.

Troopers responded and spotted the car traveling the wrong way on the highway. Troopers narrowly missed the car as it swerved right and continued south.

The car exited at the Conlin/Whitehead entrance ramp the wrong way and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

The victim was transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Cruz was arrested after failing a field sobriety test and released on $500 bond, according to police.
