TRANTOLO & TRANTOLO TO LAUNCH “HEADS UP FOR SAFETY” PROGRAM IN HARTFORD

Trantolo & Trantolo is bringing its hugely successful child safety initiative, "Heads Up For Safety," to Hartford on September 14th! First launched in Bridgeport, "Heads Up For Safety" is a coalition of public and private stakeholders in the community, who support bicycle helmet safety and education for local youth. This Child Safety partnership will begin with a Media Event at the Hartford Boys and Girls Club, 170 Sigourney St. at 3:30 PM. This will be followed by a Bike rodeo, organized by members of the Hartford Police Department. Members of the Hartford Boys and Girls Club, as well as members of the Hartford Police youth group, PAL, will take part.

HEADS UP FOR SAFETY IN HARTFORD

According to Safe Kids Connecticut, biking-related injuries lead to more emergency room visits for children ages 5 to 14 than any other sports injury. Although wearing a properly fitted bicycle helmet can reduce the risk of brain injury by 88 percent, only 45 percent of kids under the age of 14 actually wear bike helmets.

To combat these alarming statistics, Trantolo & Trantolo, in partnership with several public and private stakeholders, is bringing its hugely successful "Heads Up For Safety" program to Hartford. This program features a unique “street-smart” component, involving the Hartford Police Department. Kids seen riding without bicycle helmets will be “ticketed” with a voucher to receive a free bicycle helmet and fitting on the spot. These helmets feature a Heads Up For Safety reflective decal with all sponsor logos. For the kids already wearing helmets, they will receive free tickets to a Hartford Yard Goats or Hartford Wolf Pack game!
