The East Hartford Historical Society at Martin Park opened the HUGUENOT HOUSE MUSEUM on Saturday June 12th for Connecticut Open House Day. The 1761 Makens Bemont House, also known as the Huguenot House, is restored to its original 18th century appearance with period furnishings. Also there is the 1821 Goodwin Schoolhouse and the 1850 Burnham Blacksmith Shop. With them was the Iwo Jima/WWII Traveling Museum:
Support Our Survivors of Iwo Jima constructed a Traveling Iwo Jima and World War II Museum In 2016. Iwo Jima Survivor, Vincent Thomas was present at the Museum.
The Park is located at 307 Burnside Avenue. Tours are free, donations accepted. 860-528-0716 or www.hseh.org. They will be open 8 consecutive Sunday afternoons from 1 to 4 starting on July 11.
