National Chain Restaurant Closes Bloomfield Location

The Bloomfield location, situated close to the West Hartford line, had operated for about 13 years.

BLOOMFIELD, CT — The Bloomfield location of the Ruby Tuesday restaurant chain has permanently closed, according to a message sent to customers via an online application. This news continues a slow but steady exodus of chain restaurants across Connecticut.

Printed paper signs were taped to windows at the restaurant, and So Connected Members received electronic notification of the closure.

Opened in 2006 at 848 Cottage Grove Road, or Route 218 across from CIGNA, the Bloomfield location is the only Connecticut site to shutter last week, out of eight closures announced by the company.

Three locations in New York closed last week, as did one each in Michigan, Massachusetts and Delaware.

Customers were advised to visit the nearest location on Route 75 in Windsor Locks.

The Ruby Tuesday closing continues the slow exodus of major chain restaurants closing locations in Connecticut and across the country.

In 2018, Bertucci's closed three of its Connecticut locations after filing for bankruptcy. The Orange, Southington and Manchester locations closed. The company still has locations in Avon, Darien, Glastonbury, Newington and Shelton. Bertucci's closed 15 restaurants in the wave of closures.

In January 2019 HomeTown Buffet in Manchester closed its last remaining outlet in the state. In late 2018, Papa Ginos closed three Connecticut locations, Vernon, Waterford, and Windsor Locks, which left just the Willimantic location left.

In April 2019, Friendly's announced that three Connecticut locations that will close once their leases are up include the Danbury location at 81 Newtown Road, Southbury location at 519 Heritage Road and the Waterbury location at 544 Reidville Drive.

Friendly's locations will continue to remain in Avon, Bristol, Cromwell, Enfield, Manchester, Mystic, Naugatuck, Newington, North Haven, Norwich, Plainville, Southington, Vernon, Wethersfield, Willimantic, and Windsor Locks.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers closed its locations at the Connecticut Post and Danbury malls in Milford and Danbury respectively. There are still three Red Robin locations in Connecticut: Enfield, Manchester and West Hartford.
