Newington Residents to Perform in Nutcracker

Newington resident, Makenzie Connors, was cast in the lead role as “Clara” in Fisher Ballet Productions “the Nutcracker,” directed by Liane Fisher. Makenzie attends Backstage Academy of Dance in Newington. Newington residents Olivia Duran and Angelina Genovese, who attend Studio 3 in Newington, were also cast in the production along with Berlin residents, Bella Crossley and Victoria Mayette and Wethersfield resident Bianca Mollica, all of Backstage Academy of Dance. The Nutcracker is playing at Cheney Hall, 177 Hartford Turnpike, Manchester Connecticut on December 16th at 1:00pm and 6:00pm.

Students from several Connecticut dance schools auditioned in September and were cast in this holiday classic about a little girl who receives a Nutcracker for Christmas and has a magical adventure with the Nutcracker, fighting giant mice alongside toy soldiers under the Christmas tree, meeting snow fairies and traveling to Candyland.

Guest artists include Robert Smith as the Cavalier, Kaitlyn King from Vivid Ballet as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Ksenya Hentisz from Syzokryli Dance Ensemble, as the Trepak Dancer, and Allison McDermott from New England Center for Circus Arts as Mother Ginger.
