HARTFORD, CT — Pro wrestling fans from all over the Northeast will converge on Hartford this Sunday, as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) presents its yearly Money In the Bank pay-per-view event. Those anxious to experience exciting action without forking over upwards of a hundred dollars or waiting for the 8 p.m. start, however, may do so early that afternoon, less than a mile from the XL Center, as the Enfield-based Blitzkrieg! Pro Wrestling promotion makes its first foray into the capital city.

"Take Warning" is slated for the historic Polish National Home in the Pulaski Plaza at 60 Charter Oak Avenue. Doors open at 1:15 p.m., with bell time at 2 p.m.

"The Polish National Home has been very helpful and has welcomed us with open arms," promoter Jeremy Leary said. "If this is successful for us both, we’re hoping it’s the beginning of a great relationship and we’ll be back."

As usual, the Blitzkrieg! Pro card is stacked with a variety of matches to satisfy every type of fan. Several guest appearances are scheduled by nationally-known performers such as ECW/WWE legend Tommy Dreamer, Impact Wrestling star Rich Swann, All Elite Wrestling's MJF and former ICW, PWWA and Heart of Shimmer women's champion Shazza McKenzie of Australia.

"It’s wild to think that a week after this show, MJF will be performing in a sold-out MGM Arena in Las Vegas," Leary said. "Tommy Dreamer is a legend. Any promotion is very fortunate to have him."

The event will feature a unique Blitzkrieg! Bedlam championship match, as champion Skylar defends the title against Kris Stadtlander, who defeated former champion "Smart" Mark Sterling in a No. 1 contender's match in Enfield in late March. After her victory, Stadtlander got into a melee with Skylar which was only broken up by assistance from other wrestlers coming from the dressing room.

With the tag team championship vacated due to a serious knee injury suffered by "Sexy Jesus" Hammer Tunis of The Closers, a tournament has been set up to determine new titleholders. A pair of 3-team matches kick off the tournament Sunday; one features The East Coast Bastard Crew, The Maine State Posse and Travis Huckabee and D.L. Hurst, while the other involves The Batiri, The Shook Crew and the House of Heartcore, pairing Dreamer and McKenzie.

A 5-man scramble to determine the No. 1 contender to the Bedlam championship will include Jeff Cannonball, Scotty Wild, Bobby Orlando, Alexander Lee and Kirby Wackerman. Former tag team partners Francis "Kip" Stevens and the Abominable CPA, who have been feuding since Stevens turned on his teammate last June, will go to battle in a chain match, where they will be joined at the wrist by a 10-foot chain.

Other matches scheduled on the card include:

  • Rich Swann vs. Anthony Greene (with the Platinum Hunnies)
  • "Big Bacon" Brad Hollister vs. "Smart" Mark Sterling
  • MJF vs. Marko Stunt
  • A showcase match with Test of Strength Wrestling of East Hartford

"We’re excited to be working with Test of Strength out of East Hartford and having them for a showcase match," Leary said. "Slyck Wagner Brown (a member of the New England Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame) is one of the most seasoned vets in New England, and it’s exciting to see what his students can do."

The front row is sold out, and limited tickets remain in the second row. General admission tickets are just $20, and may be purchased at the door. For more information and to order tickets, visit www.blitzkriegpro.net.
