St. Francis Hospital Lands On Prestigious List

HARTFORD, CT — St. Francis Hospital has been named to the Fortune/IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals List. This is the ninth time Saint Francis has been recognized with this honor.

The hospital was also recognized as one of the 15 Top Major Teaching Hospitals in the U.S and remains the only hospital in Connecticut to earn a spot on the list.

"Being named to the 100 Top Hospitals list is a testament to our physicians, nurses, and other clinical providers, as well as our non-clinical teams who all work tirelessly to ensure that patient care is at the forefront of our thinking at all times," Thomas Burke, President of Saint Francis Hospital, said in a statement.

IBM Watson Health has identified top hospitals from an evaluation of 2,675 short-term, acute care, non-federal hospitals in the U.S. The annual list recognizes excellence in clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, patient experience, and financial health.

IBM Watson Health established the list to help identify best practices that may help other healthcare organizations achieve consistent, balanced, and sustainable high performance, according to a statement from St. Francis Hospital.

This year’s ranking of top hospitals also introduces a measure of hospitals’ contributions to community health with a focus on equity developed by a team of experts at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity and the Bloomberg American Health Initiative at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
