State Representative Brandon McGee Joins Harc Board Of Directors

Harc is pleased to announce that State Representative Brandon L. McGee, Jr. has joined as the newest member of its Board of Directors.

“We are extremely excited to have Brandon join our Board. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise as a Hartford native and established community activist. We are certain he will be a tremendous asset to our organization,” said Greg Calnen, Harc Board Chairperson.

McGee is serving his fourth term as a State Legislator representing the areas of Windsor and Hartford. He is the Chairman of the Housing Committee and the Chairman of the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus. McGee also serves on the Education and Human Services Committees.

“Harc has been an anchor in the Hartford community for 70 years. It is an honor to be a part of such a powerful organization helping some of the most vulnerable people in society,” said Brandon McGee.

McGee has received numerous awards for his civic work. In 2017, he was the recipient of the Excellence in Mentoring Award from the National Mentoring Partnership for his commitment to youth mentoring. He was also named 2017 Citizen of the Year by the Tau Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. In 2009, Brandon was the youngest recipient ever to receive the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Offices Community Award.

McGee earned a Bachelor's degree in political science from Alabama State University in 2006 and holds an M.S. degree in Management and Organizational Leadership from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven.
