Woman Killed In Plunge Off CT Cliff ID'd: Update
The woman's vehicle plunged nearly 200 feet, according to authorities.
PLAINVILLE, CT — A 35-year-old Southington woman was killed on Sunday in Plainville after her vehicle plunged nearly 200 feet off a cliff on Ledge Road, according to the Plainville Police Department, NBC Connecticut and other media outlets.
The woman was identified as Denise Santana, according to police. She was killed after she was ejected from the vehicle and it subsequently landed on top of her, writes WTNH-TV.
Police did not disclose the make and model of the vehicle, and no one else was inside of it at the time.

The circumstances surrounding the crash have not been disclosed as authorities continue to investigate. Ledge Road was closed for several hours on Sunday during the investigation but was reopened later that evening.
Plainville police said the incident was called into the department at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday after a citizen spotted the damaged guardrail where Santana's vehicle broke through.

To reach Santana and the vehicle, police officers and firefighters had to climb down an embankment, according to authorities.
During the recovery operation, a Southington firefighter suffered a minor shoulder injury which required treatment at New Britain General Hospital, according to NBC Connecticut.
