COVENTRY, CT — Two teens died and another was injured in an early morning crash Monday in Coventry, FOX 61 reported. The crash occurred at about 4 a.m. on Route 44 just east of Silver Street, according to a police statement.

The driver, Jacob Provost, 19, of Coventry, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The front passenger, 16-year-old Olivia Cyr, of Coventry, was transported to Hartford Hospital by Lifestar where she later died due to her injuries, according to FOX 61.

An 18-year-old passenger was treated and released from the hospital Monday.

The car had been driving eastbound, crossed the center line of the road, and came to rest against a tree on the westbound side, police said in a statement.

The Coventry fire and EMS departments responded to the crash.

The METRO crash investigation unit is assisting with the investigation.
