​Annual 5K Run for the Playground, Kids' Races Set for July 15

From the Town of Mansfield: The annual 5K Run for the Playground and kids’ track and field events will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Mansfield Community Center. The 5K will be put on again this year by the Willimantic Athletic Club. The 5K will begin at 8:30 AM, with awards to follow. T-shirts will eb provided to the first 75 runners.

The race will begin and end again at the Jeffrey P. Ossen Family Foundation Community Playground. All proceeds from the 5K will support the maintenance and improvement of the Ossen playground. This past year, Mansfield Advocates for Children has been able to make improvements to the playground including purchasing picnic tables and a beautiful, accurately tuned instrument that will be installed very soon!

Kids’ games will be held during and after the race for children- depending on the weather, these may include sprinkler fun and a bouncy slide! Kids’ events are free, and 5K runners may register at http://www.lightboxreg.com/5k-run-for-the-playground_2017?func=&mobile=0.
