Attempted Murder Charges Filed Against North Windham Man
A machete was used in an attack against a man who is currently in critical condition, police said.

NORTH WINDHAM, CT — A disturbance at a North Windham home escalated into violence Wednesday night, resulting in a man sustaining life-threatening injuries due to a machete attack and another man being held on charges of attempted murder.
Around 10:30 p.m., state police were sent to 60 James Drive, where they found a victim outside the home suffering from machete wounds to his chest and arm. The man was airlifted via LifeStar helicopter to Hartford Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition, police said.
Doran Shumway, 52, who lives at that address, admitted to troopers he had struck the victim with the machete during a confrontation. He was charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree threatening, first-degree reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

Shumway is being held in lieu of $1 million bond, and is slated to be arraigned Thursday in Danielson Superior Court.
Eastern District Major Crime detectives are continuing the investigation.
