E.O. Smith Students Named Finalists in National History Day Contest
The competition took place June 10-13.

Jonas Burkhard and Timothy Nola, students at E.O. Smith Regional High School, were recently named finalists at the National History Day Contest at the University of Maryland in College Park.
Burkhard and Nola were recognized for their documentary, A Country Held Hostage: The CIA in Iran 1953.
The pair competed with more than 2,700 students from across the country for the honor.

“All of the students who have participated in History Day have worked hard, learned a lot, and made Connecticut proud," Taber Conover, head of public programs and History Day for Connecticut’s Old State House, said in a prepared statement.
