Get a New 'Old Glory' Flag at Paradiso Insurance in Stafford Springs
The flag exchange takes place during Flag Week, June 9 to 13, at Paradiso Insurance, 8 E. Main St., Stafford Springs.
A news release from Paradiso Financial & Insurance Services:
Paradiso Financial & Insurance Services, an independent insurance agency based in Stafford Springs, is promoting community patriotism and honoring Old Glory with a 2014 United States flag exchange.
Local residents can bring their faded flags to the agency at 8 East Main St., Stafford Springs during Flag Week, June 9-13, and receive a complementary replacement. Those without an American flag can receive a flag and mounting kit at no charge.
"People died to protect our Stars and Stripes,” explains Chris Paradiso, agency principal. “The more flags we see flying in our town and surrounding Connecticut communities, the more meaningful their sacrifices become.” He points out the flags being offered through this exchange are 100% American made.
The independent insurance agency is distributing flyers that local businesses can display to encourage their customers to take part. Paradiso Insurance also will promote the exchange through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, using the hashtag, #flagsfromparadisoins.
“People can join us by tweeting or tagging photos with that hashtag, so we can get the word out more broadly,” Paradiso explains. Photos of other local displays of patriotism can be shared and tagged.
“We’re conducting this special program for our community,” Paradiso explains. “When we drive or walk by homes in our neighborhood, I want us all—including our children—to see a terrific display of our true American spirit and pride.”
New flags will be available at the agency during normal business hours. “Simply stop by with your old, worn flag,” Paradiso says.
“We’ll provide a brand new one. And if you already have a flag, stop by for a ‘100% Made in the USA’ American Flag pin.” The agency plans to distribute 250 pins and 175 flags. It also will properly dispose of old flags through the American Legion, which conducts an official ceremony to respectfully retire unsuitable flags.
Residents visiting insurance agency on Fridays leading up to Flag Day will get an extra dose of Paradiso-style American spirit. “Our staff will be dressed in red, white and blue every Friday between now and Flag Day to help promote this great cause,” Paradiso notes.
The agency also will host a cookout at its office on Flag Day, June 14, featuring activities for kids. “”Don’t forget to wear your red, white and blue to that event,” he adds.
