“Linda Orange was a friend to me and many, and was beloved in our district and her hometown of Colchester. She held a special place in the hearts of first responders, and particularly the Connecticut State Police. I know that we’ll never really be without her presence - her personality and spirit inform me every day I walk into the Capitol, and I can only hope to be as good a public servant as she was during her 23 years in the House,” said Rep. Smith.

“Linda was a dear friend and a great partner in taking care of the town of Windham. She was a fierce advocate for our residents and first responders. I am pleased to have this opportunity to vote on this bill to honor her memory and everything she did for Windham and the entire state,” said Rep. Johnson.

She was a leader on issues concerning police and fire and was a longtime member of the legislature’s Public Safety Committee where she worked to ensure the Connecticut State Police had the funding necessary to keep Troop K open and the dispatch center staffed. She was also a leader of the legislature’s Sportsman’s Caucus.
