Lightning Strike Causes Fire At Mansfield Home

A lightning strike over the weekend caused damage to a local home.

MANSFIELD, CT — Lightning struck a Mansfield home Saturday evening, according to fire officials. The emergency came at the same time as two ambulances were out on other calls.

It took firefighters 90 minutes to put out the blaze. The home is currently uninhabitable but no injuries were reported.

Crews that assisted the Mansfield Fire Department in the emergency include: IAFF Local S-15 UConn Fire-Rescue, Willimantic Fire Fighters Local 1033, Windham Hospital Paramedics, Coventry Fire, and Tolland Fire.
