Mansfield Arrests Include Operating Under the Influence, Evading

July 22

A Trooper Observed Adam Schwarz, 29, of 55 Sharon Ln. in Wethersfield, travel at a high rate of speed northbound on Route 195 in Mansfield. Schwarz was being uncooperative, and stated that he had smoked marijuana sometime that day, which led to a search of his vehicle with a K9. Subsequently, Schwarz was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and traveling unreasonably fast. He was released after posting a $1,500 surety bond and has a court date of Aug. 12.

A vehicle was traveling south on Storrs Road in Mansfield when it was struck on its driver’s side door by another vehicle, which entered its travel lane. As a result of the collision, the second vehicle struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported.

A motorcycle was traveling west on Route 44, just east of Old Turnpike Road in Mansfield. For unknown reasons, the motorcycle crossed the eastbound travel lane of Route 44 and collided with the metal beam guardrail on the eastbound shoulder. The operator, a 31-year-old Dayville man, was ejected and sustained injuries as a result of the collision. The man was wearing a helmet, but was transported to Hartford Hospital by Mansfield/LifeStar. The crash remains under investigation.

July 28

At approximately 10:35 a.m., Daniel Jason Mills, 24, of 68 Slade Rd. in Ashford, turned himself in at Troop C on an active arrest warrant for fifth-degree larceny for an incident in Tolland. He was also charged with failure to renew registration, evading, unsafe backing, and sixth-degree larceny for an incident in Mansfield.

Aug. 5

Two vehicles were traveling on Route 89 in the area of Mulberry Road when for an unknown reason, one vehicle drifted across the eastbound travel lane and collided with the other vehicle before leaving the roadway. Once off the roadway, the vehicle continued to travel west, colliding with several trees and coming to a rest against a stone wall. A 66-year-old Willimantic man was transported to Windham Hospital and then transported via LifeStar to Hartford Hospital. The accident remains under investigation.
