State police were dispatched to the Eastbrook Mall parking lot at 4:08 p.m. for a larceny complaint. A woman told troopers that, while shopping, someone stole her dog lady, a black-and-white Chihuahua, from her grandmother's car.

The dog was wearing a red leash with a pink halter with a snaggletooth at the time of the alleged abduction, state police said.

The woman told troopers she was not sure if the doors were locked and the case remains under investigation, state police said.

The man was being brought back to a cruiser and ran off. Troopers chased him down.

He was identified as 20-year-old Ryan Cirillo, of Salem, state police said.
