North Windham Aldi Part of $1.6 Billion Remodeling Campaign
Some stores in Hartford and Tolland counties are done, others are planned for renovations.

Several Aldi stores in Hartford and Tolland counties are part of a $1.6 billion nationwide capital improvement campaign.
Officials for the supermarket chain said on Wednesday that 1,300 U.S. stores will be remodeled and expanded by 2020.
Aldi intends to remodel 22 stores in Connecticut by 2019.

Remodeled stores feature a modern design, open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials – such as recycled materials, energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting.
“It has been a pleasure to serve the Hartford-New Haven community for 20 years, and we’re pleased to invest $41 million in updating our stores across Connecticut to better serve our existing and new customers,” said Bruce Persohn, South Windsor division vice president for ALDI. “We know there’s only one way to attract and keep fans: continually providing the highest-quality products, while staying true to what our competitors can’t match – everyday low prices.”

Aldi stores in Hartford and Tolland counties already renovated are in:
- Bristol
- Vernon
- Enfield
- Newington
- Rocky Hill
Aldi stores in Hartford and Tolland counties designated for renovations are in:
- East Hartford
- New Britain
- West Hartford
- North Windham
Speaking of Rocky Hill, a ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31. Following the ceremony, the first 100 shoppers will receive a golden ticket, each containing ALDI gift cards of various amounts.
