Storrs Obituary: Larry Frankel, 90
He was a paleontologist and professor of geology at UConn for nearly 40 years.

Larry Frankel, 90, of Storrs died October 10, 2018. Born in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Sally (Goldreyer) Frankel.
He was a paleontologist and professor of geology at UConn for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed opera, foreign films and other fine arts, Scrabble, and home repair. He obtained degrees from Brooklyn College and Columbia University as well as a doctorate from the University of Nebraska. He was especially known for his kindness and his sense of humor.
He was the beloved husband of Anita (Schachter) Frankel, of blessed memory, for 62 years; loving father of Bobbie Frankel and her husband Michael Tavani of Woodstock; Nina Frankel and her husband David DiGiuseppe of Chapel Hill, NC; and Sara Frankel-Bermel and her husband Guy Bermel of Providence, RI; and cherished grandfather of Jeremiah Simon and Joshua-Shiah Bermel.

Graveside services will be held at 11am on Friday, October 12 at the Hillel Burial Society Cemetery, Perkins Corner, Mansfield.
