Storrs Obituary: Mark Gifford, 54

Mark Charles Gifford, 54, of Storrs, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 28, 2018.

He was born on August 9,1963 in Hartford, the son of the late Charles and Linda (Mastinelli) Gifford. Mark grew up in Colchester where he graduated from Bacon Academy and then attended UConn. Mark spent much time advocating for accessibility for wheelchair bound individuals. He enjoyed playing the guitar, writing poetry and gardening.

He was predeceased by his sister, Sheila. Mark leaves behind his mother, Roberta Gifford of South Carolina, his sister, Dawn Nordlund and her husband Dennis of West Virginia, his sister Stacie Osber and her husband Doug of Glastonbury, his brother Scott Karal of New York, and his brother Gregg Karal and his wife Angie of Plainville. He also leaves behind his nieces Jessica and Megan Osber and nephews Josiah, Samuel and Jeremiyah Karal, and Jarred and Alec Karal.

There will be a gathering in Mark’s memory at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester, on Sunday, May 6 from 2-4PM.
