UConn Women's Basketball Team Impacted By Coronavirus

The UConn women's basketball program has temporarily suspended team activities after a member of the program tested positive for COVID-19.

STORRS, CT — The UConn women's basketball program has temporarily suspended team activities after a member of the program tested positive for COVID-19.

Per university protocol, team activities will remain on hold for at least 14 days and will resume when it is deemed safe by medical professionals.

The Huskies will not compete on their first four previously announced game dates and any schedule adjustments will be announced at a later date.

Over the past three days, there were five on-campus new positive cases at the University of Connecticut and six off-campus new positives, all in Storrs. Eight of the 11 were already in medical quarantine. The dashboard also shows seven new employee positive cases.

Students are on Thanksgiving break this week. The final two weeks of the semester and final exams will be entirely online, and most students will not return to campuses until spring semester starts in January.

Several hundred students remain on campus during part or all of the break, including many student athletes, international students and others who could not return home. The university will continue to provide testing, medical care, and services for students remaining on campus, including those in quarantine and those who are COVID-positive and are in isolation, officials said.
