3rd Graders at Meriden's Roger Sherman Elementary School Donate Backpacks to Underprivileged Children
To raise money to buy the backpacks, the students created and sold spirit bracelets.

MERIDEN, CT — Third-grade students from Meriden's Roger Sherman Elementary School recently donated 50 backpacks they bought to underprivileged children in the district, reports the Meriden Record-Journal.
To raise money to buy the backpacks, which also contained school supplies, the students created and sold 400 school spirit bracelets for a dollar each. The packs will go to students from Benjamin Franklin and Israel Putnam elementary schools.
The effort was organized by educator Amy Jensen to teach the children about service and giving.
