Downtown Meriden Eatery In Historic Location Opens

A diner in a building with more than seven decades of history has opened its doors once again.

MERIDEN, CT — Meriden's Landmark Diner is up and running as of last week in a location with more than seven decades of history. The diner at 82 W. Main St., will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Landmark announced on Facebook: "It is the perfect spot for a grab and go breakfast or a sit down lunch, whatever fits your schedule! We are excited to cater to our Meriden locals who want to try traditional diner food with a spin....Fresh ingredients , family owned , and eager to serve the community!"

Joumi Abdeslam and Samir Hassan partnered to reopen the restaurant, partially funding a renovation of its interior and exterior, The Meriden Record-Journal reported.

Abdelslam, who has 19 years of experience in the business, previously cooked at Nina's Cafe and Westbrook Lobster. The spot is located near downtown apartments and also caters to the courtroom crowd.

The restaurant offers classic diner fare for breakfast and lunch, along with a range of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Spanish dishes.

Previously, the classic restaurant was home to Cassidy's Diner and Justin Time, according to The Record-Journal.
