Fire At Meriden Apartment Building Displaces 5

A fire Tuesday night resulted in the displacement of five people.

MERIDEN, CT — A fire caused by French fries being left on a stove at an apartment building resulted in five people becoming temporarily homeless, according to The Meriden Record-Journal. The fire occurred in a first-floor apartment building at 29-B Stoddard Drive and was reported around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire was quickly extinguished but gutted the kitchen and resulted in smoke damage throughout the apartment, The Meriden Record-Journal reported. The damages are expected to total $45,000.

The American Red Cross is assisting families recover from the fire.
