Man Charged, Drugs, Guns Seized In Meriden Bust

Police seized 106 baggies of suspected crack-cocaine along with handguns and more than $280,000 in cash.

MERIDEN, CT — A man was charged with gun and drug crimes in Meriden on Monday. Miguel Acevedo was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics, and motor vehicle offenses.

He was released on $250,000 bond.

Police said they stopped a vehicle Acevedo was driving away from 54 South Ave., which according to police is a location known for drug activity.

When police stopped Acevedo, he admitted that he had two “balls” in his pocket, according to police. A “ball” is a slang term for 3.5 grams of an illegal substance, commonly crack cocaine.

Police then applied for and received a search warrant for 54 South Ave.

In the search, police recovered more than $281,000 in cash, two Glock handguns with ammunition, and 106 small plastic baggies each with suspected crack cocaine weighing a total of 390.9 grams.
