Meriden Stop & Shop Closing Due To Poor Sales: Report

MERIDEN, CT — The Stop & Shop at Centennial Plaza will close its doors for good due to poor sales and low store traffic, The Record-Journal reported. The store has a pharmacy and gas station and currently anchors the West Main Street plaza.

A company spokeswoman said that the store and gas station is not renewing its lease but will be operational through the fall of this year. Employees will be given the opportunity to transfer to other Stop & Shop locations.

Stop & Shop's location at 485 Broad St. will stay open and is scheduled for remodeling beginning this summer, according to The Record-Journal.
