Meriden Man Charged In Shooting Death Of Brother
A man has been charged in the accidental shooting death of his brother, according to police.
MERIDEN, CT — A man has been charged with manslaughter in a Meriden gunshot death, according to police. Anthony Smith was charged with second-degree manslaughter with a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, and tampering with evidence.
Police received a call Saturday from Midstate Medical Hospital reporting a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as 38-year-old Dante Smith, who succumbed to his injures.
The victim's brother, Anthony Smith, was identified as a suspect. Smith was cooperative with detectives and admitted to accidentally shooting his brother with a rifle, according to police.

He was held on several outstanding arrest warrants. Anthony Smith was arrested and held on a $500,000 court set bond.
Police searched Anthony Smith's home and found rifle ammunition and a pistol. Anthony Smith is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing guns and/or ammunition.
