Meriden Man Pleads Guilty To Dealing Heroin, Fentanyl: Feds

MERIDEN, CT — A Meriden man has pleaded guilty to fentanyl and heroin trafficking, according to Leonard C Boyle, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Javier Martinez, 40, pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and one count of possession with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin.

According to prosecutors, police pulled over Martinez's vehicle in in West Haven Feb. 13 and found he was in possession of about 100 grams of a mixture of fentanyl and heroin. A later search of his Meriden home revealed nearly a kilogram of heroin, about 180 grams of a mixture of fentanyl and heroin, more than 300 fentanyl pills, and items used to process and package drugs for street sale.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in July.

Martinez is released on a $100,000 bond pending sentencing.
