Meriden Police ID 2 Men Arrested In Connection With Shooting
Police have arrested two men and a juvenile in connection with a Tuesday shooting.
MERIDEN, CT — Police have arrested two men and a juvenile and are searching for a vehicle in connection with a shooting. The crime involved gunshots being fired and a vehicle crashing into a business Tuesday afternoon in Meriden, according to police.
Police responded to the area of 580 West Main St. around 2:15 p.m. on the report of shots fired. Police were told two cars were involved with one car was chasing the other and a person from at least one of the cars was firing shots out of a car window, according to Sgt. Darrin McKay.
McKay said patrol officers quickly flooded the area and found a vehicle that had crashed into a business at 515 West Main St. The car was unoccupied and police found that three people ran away from the vehicle after the crash. There were no injuries associated with the shooting.

Alijah Garris was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotic with intent to sell, illegal possession of a firearm, carrying a without a permit, theft of a firearm, and unlawful discharge of a firearm. He will appear at Meriden Superior Court April 6. He was held on $420,000 bail.
Tyish Smith was charged with illegal possession of high capacity magazine, theft of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and possession of a controlled substance greater than ½ ounce. He will appear in Meriden Superior Court April 6. He was held on $400,000 bail.

The third person arrested was a juvenile who has also been charged. Police are searching for a second vehicle involved in the incident that was described as a dark SUV.
