Meriden Police Officer Shot At In New Haven

Police are investigating after an officer was shot at last week.

MERIDEN, CT — A Meriden police officer was shot at while in a car in New Haven Thursday night, according to police. The incident occurred near 1134 Quinnipiac Ave. at about 9 p.m.

The officer entered their car and someone fired a gun in their direction. The officer's car was hit multiple times but the officer was not struck or injured.

The investigation is being handled by New Haven police. The two departments are working together to determine if the shooting is connected to the officer's police work.

"The Meriden Police Department is extremely grateful to the New Haven Police Department for their fast response to our officer's call for assistance as well as their extraordinary efforts thus far in their investigation of this incident," police said in a statement. "Tonight every member of our agency is thankful that our officer was not injured and our primary concern is the safety and well being of our fellow officer."
