A developer plans to convert a former shopping plaza into storage units.

MERIDEN, CT — A Los Angeles-based developer has purchased Centennial Plaza shopping center in Meriden for $5.2 million, according to The Hartford Business Journal. DealPoint Merrill bought the 560-566 W. Main St. property and plans to convert the former retail space into climate-controlled storage units.

Renovations on the property, which includes a former Stop & Shop, are anticipated to begin next month. The plaza's two remaining tenants, Family Dollar and Apple Dental, will remain in place along with standalone businesses, including an AutoZone, Wells Fargo branch, and a CVS, The Hartford Business Journal reported.
