Obituary: Nolan "Dutch" Thayne Schultz, 77, of Meriden

Thayne worked as a carpenter for many years and was a member of the Moose Club, Elks Club, Falcon's Club and Dutch Club Vorwärts.

MERIDEN, CT - (From B.C. Bailey Funeral Home) Nolan "Dutch" Thayne Schultz of Meriden, husband of Georgia (Fries) Schultz passed away March 24, 2021 at his home.

Thayne was born in Dexter, ME on June 15, 1943, son of the late Sieferd and Ruth (Monroe) Schultz. He grew up in Wally World and graduated from Wilcox Technical High School.

He was an MP Dog Handler during Vietnam. After military service he became a Trim Carpenter.

He worked as a sub contractor for many builders. In the eighties, Thayne started working for G. Fox and Co., Filene’s, and Macy’s as a carpenter and a maintenance “do it all” until he retired.

Over the course of the years, he belonged to many organizations; Moose, Elks Club, Falcon’s, Dutch Club “Vorwärts,” etc. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Georgia, to the deep South and out West. They visited national parks, historical monuments, battlefields and fortresses. Their favorite place to visit was Las Vegas.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Melissa Irene Espinosa and her husband Juan of East Haddam, CT; Charlene Emma Lukasevics and her husband Chris of Exton, PA; step-daughter Tracey Bright and her husband Marty of Broomfield, CO; his brothers Sieferd (Stubby) Schultz and his wife Nena of Guilford, ME; and Alan Creig Schultz of Monroe, ME; his grandchildren, David Thayne Schwartz (Rachel) of Lebanon, CT; twins Hunter and Logan Espinosa of East Haddam, CT; Abigail Lukasevics and twins Carter and Matthew Thayne Lukasevics of Exton, PA; his great granddaughter Gracelyn Schwartz of Lebanon, CT; sister-in-law, Sandy Fries of Wallingford, CT; her sons David Fries Jr., Billy Fries, Tommy Fries and their families as well as many cousins.

Aside from Thayne’s parents, he was predeceased by his nephew Alan Thayne Schultz, grandson Joshua Schwartz, and brother-in-law David Fries.

At Thayne’s request there will be no calling hours. Service and burial will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford, CT.
