Obituary: Providencia "Provi" Mercado, 80, of Meriden
Provi loved listening to music, dancing, family gatherings and visiting relatives and friends in Puerto Rico.
MERIDEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Providencia (Provi) Mercado, 80, of Meriden passed away at home surrounded by her loving family June 29, 2021.
She was the wife of Pedro Rivera.
Provi was born August 7, 1940, a daughter of the late José Mercado and Elvira Santiago in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico.
She had a zeal for life and loved listening to music and dancing.
She enjoyed family gatherings and visiting relatives and friends in Puerto Rico.
She is survived by her sons Robert (Marcie), Efrain (Alison) and Alex (Tamara) Vázquez; her grandchildren Delany, Daniel, Valencia, Rob Jr. (Cerina), Allie, Emily, Paul, AJ, Bobby and Dylan Vázquez and Elisa Gavin (Shawn); her great-grandson Theo; her 12 siblings and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her eight siblings.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at The Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford July 1 from 4:00 pm till 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning in the funeral home at 10:30, when the funeral cortege will proceed to In Memoriam Cemetery for interment.
