Prisoner Escapes From U.S. Corrections, Gets Arrested: Meriden PD
The man was set to be extradited when he escaped from a U.S. Corrections agent's vehicle and was later apprehended in Meriden, police said.

MERIDEN, CT — A prisoner who was set to be extradited to Florida escaped from a U.S. Corrections agent before being found in the Women & Families Center in Meriden on Tuesday, according to police.
Meriden police responded to the area of Perkins Square around 10:50 a.m. to assist the Connecticut State Marshals from the Meriden Superior Courthouse at 54 West Main St. Arriving officers found that a prisoner had escaped from custody, according to police.
The prisoner, identified as Dasmel Moore, had a fully extraditable warrant out of Florida, police said.

Moore, 23, of Baldwin Avenue, Meriden, had just been picked up by a U.S. Corrections agent and was scheduled to be return to Polk County, Florida. He was wanted on a warrant for burglary of a dwelling and grand theft of a dwelling in Florida, according to police.
Moore was secured in the rear of a transport vehicle and the agent who was driving told police that after stopping for a red light, Moore was “somehow able to get the rear door of the transport vehicle open” and ran away.

At the time he ran away, Moore was handcuffed in the front of his body and the handcuffs were secured to a belt that wrapped around his waist, according to police.
Police said officers swarmed the area and Moore was seen riding a bicycle in the area of Colony Street at Washington Street. It wasn’t known where Moore got the bicycle from, but police said he was then seen running into the Women & Families Center at 169 Colony St. where he was taken into custody inside the building.
Moore was taken back to the Meriden Police Department where he was charged with first-degree escape, interfering with police and second-degree breach of peace. He was held in lieu of a $125,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Wednesday morning.
