Soccer Match Taking Place at Falcon Field

Hartford City FC will play UConn Men's Soccer in Meriden on April 2nd.

Meriden's Falcon Field will be the site of an exciting pre-season soccer match between the NPSL's Hartford City Football Club and UConn's Men Soccer.

The Hartford City Football Club (Hartford Colts) is an professional amateur men’s soccer club based in Hartford, CT. The team competes in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) which is in the 4th division of the US soccer pyramid. Founded in 2016 and played it’s first season in 2017.

The Colts are coming off a successful 2018 season which resulted in a playoff birth. Their goal for 2019 is to win the conference and spark a deep run in the national playoffs. Led by 2018 East Region Goalkeeper of the Year, Hami Kara, and Andre Morrison, a center back who was drafted in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, the defense should be backbone of success for Hartford.

For UConn, last year marked Ray Reid's 30th season as a college head coach. The first eight were at the helm of Southern Connecticut State, which he guided to three Division II national titles. In 1997, he replaced the legendary Joe Morrone at UConn, and with the Huskies won the 2000 Division I national title, reached the NCAA tournament 18 times, and has seen 37 UConn alums play in MLS. With an average attendance of 3,213 in 2018, UConn led DI men's soccer programs in attendance for the second straight season.

The exhibition match will take place on Tuesday, April 2nd at Falcon Field in Meriden. Game time is at 7:30PM and admission is FREE.
