Winter Team State Championship History: Platt, Maloney
The two high schools combined have earned three state team championships in winters past.
MERIDEN, CT — As practices for high school winter sports officially get underway Monday (girls basketball, ice hockey and wrestling) and Thursday (boys basketball, indoor track, boys swimming and girls gymnastics), hopes run high for all teams to achieve the ultimate goal: winning a league championship, and possibly a state title.
To help squads get into the championship mentality, here is a listing of the three CIAC winter team titles won by Maloney and Platt high schools in past years (* - indicates a co-op team). Note: Wilcox Tech has never won a state championship.
