MERIDEN, CT — A woman died in a car crash Sunday afternoon after her car struck a telephone pole, according to NBC CT. The crash happened at 12:44 p.m. at the intersection of Kensington Avenue and Gracey Avenue.

An elderly woman was driving south on Gracey Avenue when her car crossed the road and hit a telephone pole. She was locked inside the car and a passerby smashed the rear window of the car to gain access.

Emergency crews transported her to MidState Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, according to NBC CT.
