1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured In I-84 Fiery Crash In Waterbury
State Police released the identity of the person killed and details concerning the crash.

WATERBURY, CT — A Waterbury man, Calvin K. Walton, 50, of Draher Street was killed when his vehicle struck a concrete barrier on Interstate 84 and ended up bursting into flames, State Police said.
A passenger, Danny Eugene Williams, 63, of Phoenix Avenue suffered serious injuries in the accident. A second passenger was uninjured in the accident. The accident was reported at 5:24 p.m. on Friday near I-84 Westbound Exit 21 in Waterbury.
State Police said Walton, who was driving a 1998 Lexus, was traveling in the right lane and for an "unknown reason traveled across three (3) lanes of travel and struck the concrete barrier in the left shoulder."

Walton's car continued westbound colliding with the metal beam guide rail multiple times, State Police said. The vehicle stopped in the right shoulder after "colliding with approximately 80 feet of wire rope guide rail" and then caught on fire, State Police said.
Walton was taken to St. Mary's Hospital where he was pronounced dead. This case remains open pending further investigation. Any witness to the collision is asked to contact Troop A-203-267-2200.
