Tropical Storm Elsa Hits CT, Naugatuck

As of 11:30 a.m. Friday, Eversource reported "fewer than 2" power outages in Naugatuck.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Tropical Storm Elsa barreled its way into Connecticut and Naugatuck early Friday, dumping what was expected to be between 2-4 inches of rain, and the potential for power outages and flooding throughout the state.

As of 11:30 a.m. Friday, however, utility company Eversource reported "fewer than 2" power outages in Naugatuck, but the storm's impact on the state had not yet fully subsided.

Gov. Ned Lamont said in a statement that thus far, Connecticut was not experiencing widespread outages.

"We are doing everything we can to ensure that the state’s utility companies respond to outages as quickly as possible to keep critical services online and prevent loss of perishable items," Lamont said. "Right now, unless you are required to travel, we are urging everyone to stay home and remain off the roads if you can until the storm passes and conditions improve."

Naugatuck residents can report any power outages or fallen trees or poles to Eversource by calling 1-800-286-2000.
