2 Dead After Falling Into Reservoir In Waterbury

Police said two people were floating on an air mattress when it capsized, according to reports.

WATERBURY, CT — Two people died after falling into the water at the East Mountain Reservoir on the Waterbury-Prospect line Tuesday night, according to multiple reports.

WTNH News 8 reported the victims are a 17-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man who were floating on an air mattress when it capsized. Both struggled in the water and didn’t return to the surface.

Rescue crews pulled the pair from the water and they were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, according to NBC Connecticut. Police haven’t identified the victims.

Several young adults were swimming in the reservoir at the time, according to WTNH.
