2 Naugatuck Residents Displaced After House Fire

The home is currently uninhabitable, officials said.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Fire officials are investigating a blaze that left a Beacon Valley Road house badly damaged after a Saturday fire. Two residents were displaced.

At 4:30 p.m. Saturday, fire crews responded to the 800 block of Beacon Valley Road. Fire crews found heavy smoke coming from the building, officials said.

The following local departments assisted: Beacon Hose Co. No. 1 responded to the scene and Waterbury Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 1339 was diverted to fire headquarters for station coverage. The Volunteer Fire Department of Prospect, Inc. squad 3 also provided station coverage.

The fire began in the basement and was quickly extinguished, officials said. The home incurred heavy fire damage in the basement and extensive smoke damage through the building, and the home is uninhabitable, officials said.

One resident was home and was treated on scene by Naugatuck Ambulance for smoke inhalation, officials said. Two occupants are displaced and were initially cared for by the American Red Cross.
