Auditions Announced for Landmark's 'Kinky Boots'

KINKY BOOTS was rescheduled from the 2020 season, and therefore not all roles are available.

THOMASTON, CT - Landmark Community Theatre is pleased to announce that it will be holding auditions for Harvey Fierstein & Cyndi Lauper’s TONY award winning hit musical, KINKY BOOTS, on Sunday, July 18th and Monday, July 19th on the main stage. LCT will be holding auditions for KINKY BOOTS on July 18th and July 19th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

KINKY BOOTS was rescheduled from the 2020 season, and therefore not all roles are available. Available roles are listed in the character breakdown. Auditions will be on a first come, first served basis. No appointments are required. Michael Calabrese will direct the show, with music direction by John Dressel. The show dates are October 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, 31 for a total of 8 performances. Rehearsals will begin on Sunday, July 25th and continue to be held three times a week. Rehearsal days are tentatively scheduled for Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings.

Auditioners must bring sheet music with them and be prepared to sing 32 bars (about a minute) of a fully memorized musical theater song showcasing the style and vocal range of the character for which they are auditioning. Songs from KINKY BOOTS are allowed. Additional vocalizing may also be a part of the audition to determine vocal range and harmonizing skills. An accompanist will be provided; no recorded accompaniment is permitted. Auditioners will be asked to read following their vocal audition. A dance audition will be held specifically for anyone auditioning to be an ‘Angel.’ Those auditioning for the roles of ‘Angels’ are highly encouraged to bring heels to dance in (if they have them) but this is not required. Other auditioners may also be expected to move. Please dress accordingly. Auditioners will be required to wear a mask or face covering until they are seen. Vocal warmups will not be allowed inside the building.

Plot Summary: Charlie Price has reluctantly inherited his father's shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father's legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola. A fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos, Lola turns out to be the one person who can help Charlie become the man that he is meant to be. As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair find that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible... and discover that, when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world.

Roles Available

  • Nicola- Charlie's long-term girlfriend. Driven, uncompromising.
  • Don- Lola's nemesis. Burly hypermasculine bear of a factory worker
  • Trish- Factory worker with a husband and kids to worry over.
  • Simon Sr.- Lola's father. An unforgiving tower of anger.
  • Harry- A contemporary of Charlie's but his opposite. Successful, self-aware and confident.
  • Richard Bailey- Nicola's boss. An overtly attractive and successful man.
  • ANGELS- The drag performers who populate The Blue Angel Nightclub. This ain't a job for no wall-flowers. The angels are an integral part of the show with big personalities. Must be willing to sing and dance in full drag with heels.
  • Ensemble- Hooligans, Factory Workers, Pub Patrons, Photographers, Club Patrons
