The vice president for financial crimes and director of corporate security at Naugatuck Savings Bank has been given a prestigious award for solving a series of hacking cases.

Robert Voets, a retired police officer, identified commercial businesses in Cheshire and Seymour whose accounts had been compromised by a series of hacking cases, according to a news release the bank posted on Patch. He was recently awarded the 2013 Investigator of the Year Award from the Connecticut chapter of the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators.

“Bob is a tremendous asset to Naugatuck Savings Bank and an industry resource on fraud investigations,” said Charles J. Boulier III, the bank’s president and chief executive officer. “We appreciate his commitment to fighting financial crime and are pleased he is part of our team.”
